Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's personal email account has reportedly been hacked into, according to news channel Al-Arabiya, with the individual responsible threatening to disclose classified information on the country's embattled regime.
The hacker, identified in the report as Saudi national Salman Al Anzi, also claims to have hacked into systems belonging to several other Syrian government departments, including the Ministry of Information.
Al-Arabiya reports that Al Anzi has obtained fresh details on Al-Assad's relationship with Iran from the Syrian dictator's personal emails, and will make this information public if unspecified demands are not met.
Demonstrators are demanding the removal of Al-Assad, who has been in power since 2000.
